Audio Recordings

A number of audio recordings have been preserved by ex-members of the band and these have been digitally recorded and made available to listen to (or download) below. The tracks are listed in chronological order.

Legacy Recordings

  • Three recordings are available from the Annual Band Championships Prizewinners Concert in the National Concert Hall, Dublin on 21 May 1983:
    • Oh The Sight Entrancing (Thomas Moore arr. Fintan O’Carroll). This is just one part of a trilogy of Irish airs called Sreath Fhonn Gaelach which were arranged especially for the band by Fintan O’Carroll.
    • Divertimento (Boedijn arr. A.H. Jakeway)
    • Hungarian Dance No. 5 (Brahms arr. Gordon Langford)
  • Echoes (Merriman) was a song recorded by Waterford man Liam Merriman in 1983. This arrangement features 10 members of the band who travelled to a studio in Wexford to record the backing track for the song. The band members who played on this track are Alan Duggan, Gavin Roche, Niall O’Connor, John Mernin, Mark Fitzgerald, Peter Gleeson, Alan Fitzpatrick, Colm While and two others (unknown at this time).
  • First Suite in Eb (Gustav Holst) was recorded on 6 October 1984 at the Annual Band Championships Prizewinners Concert in the National Concert Hall, Dublin.
  • Pastoral Theme (Cyril Walters) was recorded on 23 February 1986 at the National Quartet Championships in Rathfarnham, Co. Dublin. The winning quartet was Mark Fitzgerald, Niall O’Connor, Gavin Roche and Alan Duggan.

  • Sleighride (Leroy Anderson) was recorded from the band’s appeared on the Late Late Toy Show in 1986. For some reason, this recording appears to be in mono only.
  • Chequerboard (Gordon Langford) was recorded in The People’s Park, Waterford City in 1987 when the band appeared on the popular RTÉ programme Faces & Places.
